Recreation
To help you to plan your visit, and to navigate your way, use the Member Directory, which includes GPS coordinates for each member business, and our DuBois Interactive Map. While you are in town, check out the live performance at the Reitz Theater
How did Bloody Knox get its name? What makes Bilger's Rocks different from someone else's rocks? Find out at the Clearfield County Tourism site. Are you interested in the French and Indian war? Would you like to see Punxsutawney Phil? Have you been to a theater in the forest? Your questions are answered at the website for the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau.
There are still places that have no cell phone or internet--can you handle it? These spots are sprinkled throughout the eight state forests as well as the Allegheny National Forest in the PA Wilds. Explore them on foot, on a bike, by car, motorcycle, or on horseback. P.S. Take a map and keep your gas tank filled. Did you know that the largest elk herd East of the Mississippi River is just a short drive from DuBois? Learn more from the Keystone Elk Country Alliance and their new Elk Visitors Center in Benezette.
Pennsylvania's State Parks are one of the best values for recreation. There is no admission fee to enjoy a day of swimming, hiking, and picnicking. Many parks have campgrounds, and for a small fee you can sleep under the stars. There are 29 state parks within the PA Wilds Region. Find out more at PA State Parks.
Include a few side trips to other parts of Pennsylvania. To locate amusement parks, factory tours, or to find out if you are a "shunpiker," go to the PA Visitors Bureau. Another resource for you to investigate is the list of links for all of the Chambers of Commerce in Pennsylvania.
