Youth Programs by Penn State DuBois
Have a child interested in STEAM subjects? Join Penn State DuBois for their annual youth programs, this year online!
Creative STEAM Challenges (Grades K-1)
Kids will have fun with physics through hands-on design, creation, and experimentation. Kids will be introduced to physics concepts and have so much fun, they won't even know they are learning! Experiment with force and air pressure by making paper and straw rockets, use gravity to create mazes, catapults, cotton ball launchers, and more! The experiments will use many common household and craft items. Class is limited to 12 students.
Dates: July 20-24 (Monday-Friday)
In light of the ongoing threats from the coronavirus, Penn State DuBois has made the decision to cancel face-to-face summer youth classes (Kids In College and Youth Academies). However, in-order to give youth an opportunity to still have fun while learning in the summer, we are offering a selection of virtual classes (held through Zoom) during the weeks of July 20 and July 27.
These virtual classes are instructed by local teachers and other professions from the DuBois area and are approved by Penn State to teach these classes virtually.
Important Notes:
A parents or guardian must be in the room with the child (does not need to be on camera) during any class if his/her child is 12 and under.
Children must honor the Virtual Code of Conduct at all times or risk being asked to leave the program.
The list of supplies needed for each day's activity will be emailed to the parent/guardian's email address approximately one week before the class begins. Be prepared with these items before each class starts.
The grade listed for each class is the grade the child will be in for fall 2020.Youth Programs by Penn State DuBoisDate and Time
