CHS Drama Club presents The Drowsy Chaperone

Get ready to be transported back to the roaring 1920s at the Clearfield High School Drama Club’s Spring Musical production, The Drowsy Chaperone. This musical tells the story of a passionate musical theatre enthusiast who finds solace in his treasured album of the fictional 1920s musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. Little does he know that his living room will become the stage for a magical journey, as the characters from the album come to life before his eyes. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Performances of The Drowsy Chaperone will take place at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School Auditorium on April 3, 4, and 5 beginning at 7:00 p.m. each evening. All tickets are $10.00 and are available at the door. Winner of 5 Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. The Drowsy Chaperone debuted in Toronto in 1998 and on Broadway in 2006. The book was written by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. Music and lyrics were by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. This production is performed through special arrangements with Music Theatre International. The Drowsy Chaperone is directed by Stephen Switala with music direction by Andrew Rothrock.
